Biography
Professor Barrick has been on the BYU’s School of Accountancy since 2000. From 2007 to 2009, he worked for the US Congress as a Legislative Accountant at the Joint Committee on Taxation. While there, he worked on numerous tax acts and had jurisdiction over accounting methods and periods, property transactions, cost recovery, and administrative policies and procedures.
Research Interests
My research interests involve corporate political activity, trade associations, and tax policy. Currently, I'm working on the intersection of these activities and how companies and industries influence tax legislation which lowers their effective tax rates.Teaching Interests
My teaching interests are tax law and accounting. Currently, I teach Tax Research Methodology and Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC740) at the graduate level.Licenses and Certifications
